3rd Week - Craft
 |
"Rockin’ Rocky Relatives" |
Materials: rocks (about 2-3 per child), glitter, tacky glue,
tempera paint, felt, cotton balls, sequins, plastic eyes, doll hair,
anything with which to decorate rocks, butcher paper, paper plates,
paint brushes, markers
Preparation:
Collect rocks, and make up samples, cover tables with butcher paper,
place some of each material on bowls on each table
Procedures: Hand out rocks on paper plates to each child
- Allow them to decorate their rocks with the materials provided.
Encourage them to talk about the meaning of "Relatives"
and their ties to "Relationships" as you decorate them.
Guard this talking time to remain positive – and not become a
gripe session about our families.
- Allow the children to name and introduce each of their "Rockin’
Rocky Relatives" to each other. Place them on a table to dry.
- Ask the September Review Questions. Remind them of next month’s
"Roman Road Rally" Competition.
- If time permits, sing, "I’m so Glad I’m a Part of the
Family of God", "What a Friend We Have in Jesus", and
other songs extolling the importance of relationships. Talk about
each song.
