2nd Week - Follow-Up
IT’S TIME FOR SEPTEMBER
FOLLOW-UP
Grades K-6 – Follow-up
Materials: Belts or string, old clothes, and spoons for races.
Preparation: Gather a bag of old clothes, old girdles, panty
hose, overalls, etc.
Procedure: Review Story
Pair the kids
off and play relay games that require partners such as: Roman
Road Rally, 3 Legged
Race, Wheelbarrow, Clothes Race. Kids run to the opposite end of the
room where their partner is waiting with a bag of clothes. They then
allow their partner to dress them. After one group has had a chance to
dress the other, switch and reverse the action.
After the race,
discuss friendships with the kids. Ask them specifically about how they
can be loyal and consistent with each other. Encourage them to tell
stories of their own friendships without naming names. Transfer these
positive traits to Jesus as our friend.
Draw parallels between the races and our walk with Jesus. Example:
During the race, you trip, and your partner helps you up, just as
Jesus would help you.
Be sure to point out differences between our friendship with Jesus
and our friendship with others.
Example: Jesus is always there when
we fall, but He would never trip us intentionally. He always wants the
best for us. Sometimes, our friendships struggle from jealousy and envy.
Jesus is totally dependable.
