PALS BUTTONS
What is a PALS Button & how do you earn one?
PALS BUTTONS: Beginning with the month of November, PALS buttons
become available as a way of rewarding children for exhibiting one of
the following traits:
Praise,
Adore,
Love,
Serve.
For example, a child may earn a button by helping another child
during craft time or by making a visitor feel welcome. These are
difficult to earn and the children will work hard to get one. For
artwork of the PALS button, see the "Odyssey Odds’N Ends"
section of this curriculum.
Buttons are awarded on a Wednesday night in front of the other
children. Two to six buttons may be awarded at once. Remember, the fewer
you give out, the more desirable they become to the others.
Who else can earn PALS buttons?
Upon earning a
PALS BUTTON, THE CHILD MAY THEN AWARD ONE TO AN ADULT FROM THE
CONGREGATION. The child must write a minimum of three sentences
explaining why he is nominating that adult for the PALS award. Examples,
an usher could be chosen for SERVING or a Pianist for playing PRAISE.
Sunday evening services afford a good time to award buttons in front
of the church. The child gives out the button while an adult reads what
he/she had written. This is a great motivator providing a way to link
the Odyssey Program with the whole church.
It is exciting to give children an opportunity to give back to the
church in a positive way.
PALS Buttons can make this an exciting year! Use this promotion to
excite the entire church!!!!! J
